Utilities face growing pressures to modernize the grid, but budgetary constraints, rapid load growth from technologies like AI, and competing priorities make it critical for utility leaders to direct spending effectively. This session will explore how utilities are collaborating to better understand the challenges of operating the grid of the future and developing a risk-based grid management model that ties information and decision making together across generation, transmission and distribution. Panelists will discuss their efforts developing the concept and framework of "total grid orchestration" and the vision of using it to supercharge grid planning and control tools to help utilities rise to the challenge of embracing growth while maintaining reliability and cost competitiveness.
