Lon Huber
Lon Huber serves as Senior Vice President of Integrated System Planning and Chief Planning Officer for Xcel Energy, where he leads the company’s modeling, planning, and system standards groups. In this role, he ensures Xcel is designing a grid for the future and prepared for the rapidly evolving energy landscape.
Previously, Lon held leadership roles at Duke Energy across rates, regulatory, wholesale, and customer. Earlier in his career, he advised state utility commissions, energy companies, and consumer advocates as a consultant. His professional background also spans industry, government, and academia, giving him a broad perspective across sectors.
Lon has received numerous awards for his innovative solutions to the electricity industry’s most pressing challenges, including the Energy Storage Association’s top honor, Public Utilities Fortnightly’s John Beggs award, and Utility Dive’s Innovator of the Year.
