Stefan Bird

Stefan Bird brings over 30 years of energy industry experience, including 25 years in C-level roles across Berkshire Hathaway Energy companies. His leadership spans vertically integrated utilities, independent power, commodity trading, acquisitions, and international development.

Prior to BrightNight, Stefan served as President and CEO of Pacific Power, a division of PacifiCorp, where he led utility operations across three states, directed wholesale transmission and renewables across the Western U.S., and oversaw corporate services. He championed the expansion of the California ISO’s energy imbalance market and spearheaded the transition of PacifiCorp’s renewable portfolio to over 7 GW, alongside development of 630 miles of interstate transmission and over 1 GW of supply for data center customers.

Earlier in his career, Stefan was President and CEO of CalEnergy, leading geothermal, cogeneration, and minerals operations, and supported over $10 billion in major acquisitions. He began his career with Koch Industries, holding roles across the U.S., Europe, and Latin America, and co-founded one of the first U.S. power trading firms.
