The Most Accurate Distribution System Model in North America

Cass County Electric Cooperative (Fargo, ND) has done extensive work obtaining and maintaining accurate electric connectivity in their Distribution GIS, OMS, and WindMil models. Now that you know the who, we will discuss the what, when, where, why, and how in this session. Probably not in that order. In addition to case-specific details, we will discuss connectivity’s various and ambiguous definitions & framings, how various connectivity definitions are updated where, and the humans that stand in the middle of all the past, present, and future connectivity definitions in our system models. We might touch on geospatial accuracy, but probably only enough to mention that it’s not equal to electrical accuracy followed by a courteous but prudent reminder that electrons take the wires to work.
