Lew Folkerth

Mr. Folkerth has been in the electric utility industry for more than 45 years. He joined ReliabilityFirst (RF) in 2009 as a CIP auditor, where he helped shape the form and substance of CIP audit processes and procedures.

Mr. Folkerth is active in RF’s outreach activities. He frequently participates in Assist Visits. He is the author of “The Lighthouse,” a regular column that discusses various CIP issues in the RF newsletter.

Mr. Folkerth studies the security of industrial control systems, with a focus on developing new ways to protect these essential systems.

Mr. Folkerth founded and continues to lead the Cloud Technology Advisory Group (CTAG), an unofficial group that provides support to the official groups working on cloud technologies for the electric industry. He is also seated on the Project 2023-09 standard drafting team.

Mr. Folkerth is a Professional Engineer and a Licensed Professional Investigator. He holds the CISSP, CCSP, CISA, GRID, GICSP, GCFA(Gold), GMON and GPEN certifications and an ITPM
