Adapting at the Speed of Regulation: New Jersey Interconnection Modernization in Practice
New Jersey's recent grid modernization reform introduced significant new requirements for DER interconnection, including a Common Interconnection Application Process (CIAP) portal, Pre-Application Verification and Evaluation (PAVE), dispute resolution process, extension requests, customer satisfaction surveys, standardized workflows, and expanded reporting. Utilities had to adapt quickly while continuing to process steady volumes of solar and storage applications.
This session shares how Rockland Electric Company (RECO) adapted to evolving regulatory requirements while keeping interconnection applications moving. Co-presented by RECO and Clean Power Research, attendees will hear practical lessons learned, implementation strategies, and how a configurable, no-code platform enabled regulatory agility, improved transparency, and streamlined the customer experience.
