Con Edison has achieved a 20-fold increase in enrollments in its demand response programs through strategic use of advanced Demand Response Management System (DRMS) software. This platform has been instrumental in enabling scalability by automating enrollment validation processes, significantly reducing manual effort and turnaround time. Additionally, the DRMS provides robust operational displays that offer real-time visibility into program performance and participant engagement. Advanced reporting capabilities have further enhanced decision-making and baseline calculation, allowing the utility to optimize program performance and customer participation. Furthermore, Con Edison has allowed battery assets to participate in DR, dispatching them with the DRMS to enhance grid reliability. This presentation will explore the Con Edison’s journey, key challenges addressed, and how technology played a pivotal role in transforming the scale and efficiency of its demand response efforts.
