The DTECH team strives to create an experience that is cleaner and more sustainable from start to finish. Our mission is to impact change through our conference programming as well as our event planning processes and onsite practices wherever possible. Our team and our vendors are committed to mitigating environmental impacts and supporting social change whenever and wherever we hold DTECH today and in the future. 

Smart energy management & emissions reduction

  • Marriott Environmental Sustainability Hub monitors all utility consumption in real time.

  • Building Management System enables scheduled and optimized HVAC control.

  • Energy-saving thermostats in guest rooms limit HVAC use when unoccupied (installed in 2022).

  • High-efficiency boilers and heat exchangers for domestic hot water (upgraded in 2020).

  • Energy-efficient LED lighting in all guest rooms.

Waste reduction

  • Composting all organic waste.
  • Single-stream recycling with bins in every guest room.

  • Bio-degradable to-go food containers.

  • Paperless e-billing system to reduce paper waste.

  • Cage-free eggs used in venue restaurants to support ethical sourcing.

Water conservation

Water Conservation Initiatives

From showers to toilets, smart water use is part of the venue’s everyday operations:

  • Low-flow shower devices reduce water use across guest rooms.

  • Toilet upgrades save an estimated 200,000 gallons of water per year.

  • Water refill stations on all floors help reduce plastic bottle use.

Sustainable transportation

  • Electric vehicle charging stations on-site.
  • Blue Bikes bicycle-sharing system conveniently located outside the venue.
