John Tzimorangas
John is responsible for Energy New England’s overall operation in the retail and wholesale energy markets, strategic planning, risk management, renewable energy projects and new business development for the organization. ENE is the largest wholesale risk management and energy trading organization serving the needs of municipal utilities in the northeast. ENE currently manages the power supplies of over twenty-five municipal electric systems serving more than 1400 MW of electric load and more than 550 MW of generation in all six New England states.
John was elected to the American Public Power Association (APPA) Board of Directors in June for this 3-year national role. He also recently served on the Governor’s Commission on Energy Infrastructure Siting and Permitting and currently is serving on the Energy Transformation Advisory Board for the Commonwealth and the American Public Power CEO Climate Change and Generation Policy Committee.
Prior to joining ENE, he served as the General Manager of the Hingham Municipal Lighting Plant, responsible for the entire operation of the municipal utility. Before HMLP, John served as a Director for NSTAR Electric in the Substation and Operations and Maintenance areas of a large private utility. John served as Director of Substations for all 91 cities and towns of NSTAR and prior to that managed the activities of the Cape and Vineyard and the Plymouth divisions of the company, responsible for the day-to-day operations and customer relations in these geographic areas.
John started his career in the electric industry with Commonwealth Electric, responsible for the operating areas on Cape Cod and Plymouth. John is a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute and received an MBA from Western New England College. John serves on several utility and public sector Boards.
