Simon Baker

Simon Baker is a transformational technology executive and Chief Information & Digital Officer for New England and US Customer at National Grid, where he is responsible for technology strategy, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data, and enterprise platforms supporting millions of customers and critical energy infrastructure. Responsible to the New England CEO, Simon leads the technology agenda helping shape the future of energy delivery through innovation, operational excellence, and customer-centric transformation.

Over his career, Simon has established a reputation for leading large-scale business and technology transformations that deliver measurable business impact. He has successfully modernized complex enterprises, turned around underperforming organizations, and built high-performing teams across utilities, pharmaceuticals, government, retail, and media. At National Grid, Simon has held multiple senior leadership positions, including CIO for US Customer, Vice President of Digital Execution, CIO for UK Electricity Transmission, and Head of Solution Delivery. His leadership has helped deliver hundreds of millions of dollars in business value through digital transformation, advanced analytics, AI-enabled operations, and large-scale modernization programs.

Before joining National Grid, Simon held senior technology leadership roles at GlaxoSmithKline, EMI Music, WHSmith, and the Post Office. At EMI, he played a pioneering role in the industry's transition from physical media to digital distribution, helping build the digital supply chain that transformed how music is delivered and consumed worldwide.

Recognized for combining strategic vision with disciplined execution, Simon is known for forging strong business–technology partnerships, developing exceptional leadership teams, and aligning technology investments to enterprise outcomes. Today, he is focused on harnessing artificial intelligence, digital platforms, and next-generation customer technologies to improve operational performance, strengthen resilience, and accelerate the clean energy transition.
